AN OBSERVATION OF HAZRAT MOULANA THANWI (RA) A man once asked Hakeemul Ummat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi the following: “If there is a person who is an expert in political affairs, but he is a non-Muslim, what is wrong if we follow him in purely political matters?” Moulana Thanwi sahib replied: “The example of this is exactly like that of a non-Muslim who is well versed in the method of salah, while other Muslims are not. Will it be permissible to follow him in salah? The basis of the misunderstanding here is that people do not regard politics as Deen. This alone is a major error and gross ignorance of Deen. Politics is part of Deen. Having such ill-conceived notions is tantamount to claiming that Islam does not teach political theory. What a fabrication! (When politics is part of Deen) How is it then permissible to follow a non-Muslim in a matter of Deen? Is this not humiliating to Islam and Muslims? Is there no one among Muslims who is versed in politics? Yes, it will be permissible to join the unbelievers and work with them in such a manner that they remain subservient to the Muslims. (Islaahul-Muslimeen) ================================== That Shariah is not a Shariah, which has no politics. And that politics is not politics, which is not subservient to Shariah. Hazrat Moulana Maseehullah sahib (RA) When you begin trading in material commodities, and you run after livestock, and you are content with agriculture, and you consequently forsake Jihad then Allah shall impose upon you a humiliation which He shall not uplift until you return to your Deen. (Hadith of Our Rasool Sallallahu alayhi wasallam)
