The entire world, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, is reacting to
the war threats of America. And presumably so, for never before has the
hypocrisy and animosity of the US government been more glaring. However, as
Muslims we must realise that we do not react to a threat just for the sake of
reacting, or for lack of anything better. Our reaction to any happening must be
motivated by sentiments of iemaan, and based on Shariah. For every situation
there is some form of Islamic discipline that has to be followed.
Firstly, the fact that our fellow Muslims are under threat of war from the
enemy is to us a major concern. In the words of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi
wasallam), Muslims are like one body, injury to any part is injury to the whole.
Secondly, Iraq has and will always be a very strategic country to Muslims, both
geographically and spiritually. It was once the seat of Islamic learning and
most of the great Fuqaha and spiritual stars in the firmament of Islamic
Learning hailed from Iraq. Thousands of these luminaries lie buried on the
blessed soils of Iraq. No Muslim will fail to be moved by this looming threat.
Our very first response to this is to engage in earnest dua. The hadith shareef
describes dua for a Muslim in his absence as the haq or right of one Muslim over
the other. It is, therefore, only right that we focus much effort and energy in
supplicating unto Allah asking for his nusrat-e-ghaibi, or help from the
unseen. It is indeed a great amal in the eyes of Allah to pray for fellow
Muslims who are under siege. At this stage there is no need for
Qunoot-e-Naazila. (to be cont.)
