Rabiul Aakhir 1423 Volume 1, No. 5 June 2003 LIFE-- A SACRED TRUST The gift of life has never ever been fully appreciated by most human beings, nor has it ever been abused the way it is today. There are three major areas concerning life that need to be addressed. We must firstly understand with conviction and belief that the life we possess is a Sacred Amaanat or Trust from Allah. Life is a gift from Almighty Allah, Divinely entrusted into the care of man. Secondly, there are rules and regulations ordained by Allah for the protection and fulfillment of this Divine Trust. Thirdly, the time will most certainly come, sooner if not later, when we, the repositories of this wonderful trust, would have to deliver it back to the Original Owner. As for the first point, The Holy Quran has enunciated this reality quite clearly. Almighty Allah states: Say (O Muhammad): Certainly my salah, my sacrifice, my life and my death belong to Allah The Lord of the worlds. (Surah, A’raaf, aayat 162). When hearing of the demise of anyone, we are taught to read: Inna lillahi wa innaa ilayhi raji’oon, which means, ‘Verily to Allah do we belong, and unto Him shall we return.’ (Surah Baqarah, aayat 156) These ayaat (verses) proves that the life we enjoy is actually the property and endowment of Allah Azza wa Jall. In another verse, Allah Ta’ala states: Verily the hearing, the sight, and the heart, each of these will be questioned (on Qiyamat). (Surah Bani Isra-eel, aayat 36) The ears, eyes, and heart, are key factors in the good or bad that man does. The accountability of these major parts of the body on the Day of Judgement is proof enough that they are all components of a Sacred Trust. It, therefore, follows that man has not been given a free reign over the use and abuse of his life. Since Allah Azza wa Jall has full and unilateral possession over our lives, He enjoys the right to impose liability and obligation upon its use and function. Islam thus enjoins that life is a Divine Endowment, and we are under compulsion to live this life in accordance with the Law of the Giver of Life. We are mere trustees to oversee the function of this human life on earth. However, out of His mercy, Almighty Allah will ultimately reward us, the administrators of His amaanat, beyond our wildest imaginations, should we succeed in keeping up this sacred trust. The honest and faithful trustee will be highly honoured by Allah Ta’ala. THE FOUR DEPARTMENTS OF LIFE Hazrat Amar bin Maymoon Al-Audi (radhiyallahu anhu) narrates that once Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) gave the following advice to a Sahaabi: “Treasure five things before five: Your youth before old-age; your health before illness; your wealth before poverty; your free time before becoming occupied, and your life before death. (Tirmizhi) This wonderful hadith depicts the four major areas of life, viz: youth, health, wealth, and free time. Although life is counted as the fifth point, but by mentioning it last the implication is that the previous four factors make up the capital of one’s life. The word “treasure” at the start of this hadith is quite significant. A human being treasures things that are valuable. A Muslim in particular, is taught to value and appreciate the four major funds that make up man’s capital for investment in the hereafter. INVESTING OUR CAPITAL The other important factor this hadith teaches is the method of fulfilling this trust of Allah. The factors that represent man’s capital on earth are youth, health, wealth, and leisure. Here Rasoolullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) is advising the youth, the healthy, the wealthy, and those who have free time on their hands. These are generally the areas where people suffer the most. Another hadith narrated by Ibni Abbas (radhiayllahu anhu) goes as follows: There are two favours in which many people suffer losses: Health and Free time. (Bukhari) The trustees of this capital are instructed by Allah and His Rasool to utilize these four funds before they become depleted. And that is what normally happens. THE ABUSE OF BOUNTIES When man spends his youth flouting the law of Allah, he rarely finds time in his old-age to make amends and prepare for the life hereafter. Likewise, when one’s health is expended in efforts other than Deen, there is obviously no strength or enthusiasm to do go good during illness. In similar fashion, when wealth is squandered in wrong avenues, the time for charity and benevolence seldom arrives. Finally, when valuable time is wasted, there is no way such time could be retrieved. THE NI’MAT OF ALLAH Almighty Allah states in Surah Anfaal: .... verily Allah shall not change a ni’mat which He has conferred upon a nation unless they change what is within themselves.. The meaning of this verse is that when people abuse the favours of Allah then He either decreases His Favours upon them or totally deprives them of His Bounties. THE ABUSE OF YOUTH Significantly, the first component of the Divine Trust mentioned in the hadith is youth, the prime of life Our young people today invariably, expend their youthful energy on pursuits that conflict with Shariah. Sports, night clubs, rave clubs, drugs, sexual indulgence, are but a few examples of what the youth find time to do. Frightfully, along with the destruction of this prime period of their lives, they are also wasting wealth, health, and most precious of all, time. Let them be warned that once these priceless gifts are lost, there is no way they can be retrieved. What guarantee do the youth have that they will live till old age to do ibaadat (as many of our young friends believe)? And even if they do become old, how certain are they that the health and strength will still be there to perform acts of worship, especially when these young Muslims wantonly abused these gifts of Allah during their youth? For this reason Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) mentioned the young person who spent his/her time in the worship of Allah as among the seven people who will be granted shade under His Throne on Judgement Day, when there will be shade but that of The Arsh of Almighty Allah. We urge our young brothers and sisters to review their lifestyle and make a concerted effort to reform themselves. Even if this reform is slow and gradual, let it be set into motion now, rather than later. May Allah grant us all sound intellect to fully understand and appreciate the gift of life. THE
TRUTH ABOUT QADIANISM
AND AHMADIS T he words of a Hadith are Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu anhu) has quoted Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) as saying: "I swear by Him in whose hands is my life, the time shall certainly come when among you the son of Maryam shall descend as a just ruler and break the Cross (i.e. he shall destroy Cross-worship) kill the pig, put an end to war and there shall be such an abundance of wealth that there would be no takers and people would become so religious that they would consider one sajdah more valuable than the whole world and all that is in it. At such a time your Imam would be from among you, that is, he would be from the Ummah of Muhammad."The Hadith clearly mentions that the son of Maryam, i.e. Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) shall descend to this world. This Hadith is to be found in the two famous books, Bukhari Shareef and Muslim. In it Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has said that Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) shall descend in the capacity of a just ruler, and shall carry out 'adl' i.e. justice; that he shall destroy Cross-worship, i.e. he shall put an end to Christianity and the Christians left shall embrace Islam. When everyone in the world shall become Muslim, Jihad will come to an end automatically. Due to the blessed coming of Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) and due to the blessing of all the people becoming Muslims, the earth will bear fruit in such abundance and wealth would be in such excess that there would be no one left to take it. Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) also said that when such a time will come, your Imam or leader will arise from among you. Another Hadith establishes the fact that this leader will be Hazrat Mahdi. When Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) shall descend from the Heavens, people will be preparing for offering the Fajr Salat. They shall stop on seeing Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) descending from the skies. Hazrat Esa shall come down on the eastern minaret of that mosque in Damascus and from there he will be brought down to the mosque's courtyard. Hazrat Mahdi will invite him to lead the Salat but he will refuse saying that it is you who have been destined to be the imam of this salat. Thus the prophecy of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) shall come true. The Qadianis admit that there do exist Hadiths stating that Hazrat Esa shall come back to this world but they say that these Hadiths do not contain the words 'he shall descend from the Heavens'. We ask them to go through Baihiqi Sharif, Kanzul 'Amaal, and Ibn-i-Majah wherein they will find authentic Hadiths specifically mentioning that Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) shall descend from the skies. Now Mirza Qadiani claims that he is the messiah who was to come. The Hadith we have just quoted says, 'the son of Maryam shall descend among you'. Neither was Mirza the son of Maryam nor did he descend from the skies. Mirza's mother was called Chiragh Bibi, nicknamed Ghaseeti and his father's name was Mirza Ghulam Murtaza. Yet obstinately Mirza persisted in saying "I am the Promised Messiah". Not only did he say that but he wrote it in nearly all of his books too. 'There is no doubt about it, there is no fraud in it that I am the Promised Messiah,' he said. Pick up his book 'Izalah-i-Auham' or 'Kishti-i-Nooh' or any other one. He has made this claim repeatedly. But since lies have no legs to stand upon, every time Mirza Qadiani told a lie, he confirmed it himself. Now it's another thing that the Qadianis cannot or will not accept that their leader was nothing but a liar. They act just like the ostrich with its head in the sand when confronted with the proof. In 'Izalah-i-Auham' Mirza Qadiani himself has written that he is the Promised Messiah, yet in the same book some 20 pages later he writes, 'this unworthy self has made a claim of being the persona of Messiah which some dull-witted people have taken to mean the Promised Messiah.' In other words Mirza Qadiani is saying that he has only claimed that he is 'like' Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) but some stupid people have taken it to mean that he has claimed to be Hazrat Esa himself, which is not true. Lo! First he says again and again that he is the Promised Messiah, then straight away he contradicts himself by saying that he did not say that at all and it was 'some dull-witted people who attributed this claim to him. It was Mirza himself who was dull-witted and his followers who are dull-witted without any doubt. The above-mentioned Hadith has been quoted by Mirza in his book, Izala-i-Auham too: 'the son of Maryam shall come in the capacity of a just ruler,' he has written. Now someone should ask the Qadiyanis: was Mirza a ruler? And as to being a ruler, he used to consider the British to be that. He wrote two whole books in praise of Queen Victoria and the British Government, the Sitara-i-Qaiseriyah and Tohfa-i-Qaiseriyah. In these books, he praised both to the heavens and he even called the British Government 'Shadow of God upon this earth'. In another book, he kept on referring to himself as 'the self-cultivated plant of the British'. How could he have been a just ruler as referred to in the Hadith? In another Hadith on the same topic, Hazrat Abu Huraira (radhiyallahu anhu) has been quoted as saying that the son Maryam shall perform Hajj or Umrah or both. Can the Qadiyanis tell us whether Mirza performed even a single Hajj or Umrah? Did this blessing ever come his way? Hazrat Abu Huraira further says that Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) shall visit the mausoleum of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). The Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) himself said, 'he shall come to my grave and offer salaam and I shall answer him'. Mirza never even got the chance to visit the prophet's mausoleum, did he? Then in other Hadiths, it has been stated clearly that Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) shall slay the Dajjal. He shall show the blood stained tip of his spear to the people and tell them, 'I have killed Dajjal'. Mirza did not even know how to hold a spear nor did he ever learn to wield a sword. In fact, he wasn't even remotely interested in learning how to fight the enemy. When he was a child, he had passed his time in catching birds and once he had tried to slaughter a chicken with a reed instead of a knife. Even then, he had not succeeded but cut his finger instead. A person who did not even know how to slaughter a chicken, what would he know of killing an enemy with a spear? The Hadith we mentioned in the beginning also contained the words, 'there shall be such an abundance of wealth that there would be no takers.' Yet throughout his life Mirza kept on asking people for donations for his party. He even had to collect donations for publishing his first book. He promised his followers that there would be fifty volumes of the book and so they donated generously yet he stopped when he had completed five. 'What difference is there between five and fifty? Merely a zero,' he told his people dismissingly. It is evident that there was no abundance of wealth in Mirza's lifetime but it shall be during the time of Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam). Hazrat Esa (alayhis salaam) will descend to this world in the time to come. May Allah bestow some sense upon the followers of Mirza Qadiani, Ameen.
