A Brief account of the life of Maseehul-Ummat Hazrat Moulana Shah Muhammad Maseehullah Khan Sherwani (rahmatullah alayhi)

A Brief account of the life of Maseehul-Ummat Hazrat Moulana Shah Muhammad Maseehullah (rahmatullah alayhi)

ASSOCIATION WITH THE AHLULLAH WHILE STUDYING

From childhood Hazrat had a natural disposition towards the company of the Ahlullah (pious people of Allah). Hence, while studying in Darul Uloom, after the Asr salah, when other students went out for walks or recreation, Hazrat would sit in the auspicious company of his honourable tutor, Hazrat Mia Asghar Husain Muhaddith Deobandi rahmatullahi alaihi everyday besides Thursdays and Fridays. This he did with the permission of Hazrat Thanwi rahmatullahi alaihi.. When Hazrat Moulana Asghar Husain sahib was absent, he sat in the hallowed company of Hazrat Moulana Husain Ahmad Madani rahmatullahi alaihi. And when both these august personalities were not present, Hazrat would spend this precious time in the musjid. Hazrat had absolute resentment for sports and games, and the intermingling of students.

Every Thursday after classes he would go to the Khanqah of Thanabawan (where Hazrat Thanwi was based) and return to Deoband Friday evening. Similarly, every year it was customary for Hazrat to spend forty days of the annual vacation, from 10 Sha'baan to 20 Ramadaan, in the Khanqah Imdaadiyah (another name for the Khanqah of Thanabawan).

BAY'AT AND ACQUISITION OF SPIRITUAL EXCELLENCE

In the year 1347 Hijri (1926) Hazrat Wala established spiritual links and bay'at with his Shaikh, the Reformer of the century Hakimul Ummat Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi rahmatullahi alaihi. From time to time Hazrat would come and stay for lengthy spells in the khanqah of Thanabawan. Correspondence with the Shaikh, and strict adherence to his written advice was always in progress. In this manner for fifteen years he acquired abundant spiritual munificence from his Shaikh.

Stories of pious ladies — From Bahisti Zewar

A young daughter of Hadrat Haatim

He was a great sufi. Once a rich man was on his way when he felt thirsty. Hadrat Hatim's house was on the way. He came and asked for water. After drinking the water, he threw some money and continued on his journey. His house folk were all very poor, so they became very happy when this money was given to them. He had a young daughter who started crying. When the house folk asked her the reason for her crying, she replied: “An insignificant person saw our condition and we became rich. How sad it is that Allah is aware of our condition all the time but our hearts are not happy.

Lesson: How intelligent this girl was! It is extremely sad that now even elderly women do not have the intelligence to have their trust in Allah. Instead, they depend on His creation by thinking that a certain person will benefit them or a certain person will help them. For the sake of Allah, put your hearts in order.

Satt al-Muluk

She was from Arabia. All the auliya and ulama of her time used to honour her. Once she went to visit Baytul Maqdis. At that time, a sufi by the name of Ali bin Albas Yamani was present there. He says: “I was in the musjid when I saw a thread filled with noor extending from the sky to the dome of the musjid. When I went to look, I saw this woman offering salat under the dome and the thread was attached to her.

Lesson: This noor was the noor of piety. It is formed in the heart of all pious persons. At times, Allah displays this noor outside as well. But the actual place of this noor is the heart. O women! Adopt piety, do good deeds and stay away from that which is prohibited.
